Let me start with a question
What is one of the most crucial life skills that most of us, mothers, forget to teach our kids?
We will get back to the answer shortly!
But first let’s focus on the characteristics of a mother. What are some of the top characteristics of a mother? Most would agree: mothers are kind, loving, caring, hardworking, they are full of patience, tolerance, forgiveness, strength and empathy, right? And these are just some of the inherent qualities of a mother, the list can go on for miles…
But tell me, how many of you are really loving to yourself? How many of you forgive yourselves when you make a mistake? How many of you are so unkind that you tell yourselves that you are not good enough?? A lot of you right? Have you ever thought if you cannot love yourself or be kind or forgiving to yourself, how can you really be loving and kind to your kids? And worse how will your kids learn to love themselves and be kind to themselves when we are not around, if we don’t teach them?
I believe that is one of the most crucial life lessons we do not teach our kids. How to take care of yourselves, moms.
Kids learn everything from us. To ensure they take care of themselves, it's important they see you practice the same. So be compassionate to yourself, tend to your own needs and appreciate every small thing you do.
